LOCAL WALKS
There are lots of good quality footpaths in the Apricale area, mostly old mule trails and so these are wide, easy to follow, and nicely graded. The long-distance footpath Sentierio Balcone Mediterraneo (the Balcony of the Mediterranean Footpath) also runs through Apricale.
If you want a taste of the countryside with spectacular views of Apricale and Isobolona and without too much exertion or hillclimbing then try the walk around the flank of Monte Calvaira which contours the head of the river valley to the north of the Apricale ridge. If you fancy views of south side of Apricale, then walk to the ancient bridge over the river that is tantalisingly visible from the balcony of the house. It's an easy walk, but obviously involves some uphill walking on the way back. Walk to Roman bridge
SHOPPING
There are two general stores in Apricale, one very close to the house. There are good local markets in neighbouring villages, and there is an internet cafe in Ventimiglia (with one promised for Apricale soon). There are several banks in Ventimiglia.
